| The Moving Process
At VIP we understand how stressful the moving process can be. Whether you are moving across the street or around the world, we have the knowledge and experience necessary to make your move an easy one. In order to simplify the process for you, we have provided a time-line below of what you can expect throughout your moving experience.
- The first step in the moving process is a simple one; contact us! You can do that via e-mail at customerservice@viptransport.com or by calling us at 1-800-998-4847. You will speak with a customer service representative who will set up an appointment for one of our sales representatives to visit your home and provide you with a free estimate. Our sales representative will survey everything in your home, and will ask which items will be staying and which items will be going. He will also discuss with you the specialized services that VIP Transport offers such as specialized crating, packing, and unpacking. By doing this, the sales representative will be able to provide you with an accurate estimate of your transportation costs.
- After the visual survey has been completed, the next step is to contact your customer service representative and schedule your move. If you have requested that VIP pack your goods, a pack date will be scheduled as well as a load date. Our customer service representative will register your shipment with the van-line and will mail you a packet containing information pertinent to your move. Enclosed in this packet you will find an Order for Service form which needs to be signed and returned before your scheduled load date.
- Once the Order for Service has been signed and returned, the next step is simple; wait! If you have any questions regarding your upcoming move, this is a good time to call your customer service representative. They are ready to answer any questions you may have about your upcoming move. This is also a good time to gather information that will be useful to you in regards to making your move a smooth one. If you are planning on packing your own goods, visit our "packing tips" page. You will find tons of helpful hints for packing just like the professionals do. If you are moving with kids or pets, visit our "moving kids" or "moving pets" pages to get some great insider tips on making the move easy on them too!
- When your pack date arrives, you can expect a team of trained movers to be at your home early in the morning. Depending on how much packing needs to be completed, your pack date may be the same as your load date. If this is the case, after the packing is completed the movers will start to prep your home before loading all of your goods onto the moving vehicle. This may include laying down floor runners to protect carpet and flooring, as well as padding banisters and doors to avoid damaging any woodwork. The team will wrap most of your furniture with moving blankets to prevent dents and scratches. The moving team will then start loading all of your goods onto the moving vehicle. After everything has been loaded, we recommend you take one last walk through your home to make sure nothing has been overlooked.
- Before loading, your driver should have prepared a detailed inventory and condition report of all items that are to be moved. After all items have been loaded onto the moving vehicle, and your last walk through is complete, the driver will ask you to sign the inventory. The driver will also sign the form and will provide you with a copy. You will also be asked to sign the bill of lading, which is the contract that authorizes the van line to transport your goods.
- You will be contacted 24-hours prior to your expected delivery date. When your shipment arrives, you can help the moving team by telling them where you want items placed.
